Curriculum
The core skills needed for a successful, productive life are learned and enlarged before the age of 6. Learning, communication, emotional and interpersonal skills are developed during these early years. Therefore we focus on stimulating each child’ potential. Education is both enjoyable and effective when teachers recognize students' natural curiosity and desire to learn.
- 1. Immersive bilingual Program
It is an immersive bilingual program as the English and Chinese teachers are all the time in the classroom, interacting with the children not only during the specific teaching times but also during the free play times, the lunch, etc. in order that the children can really live in a real bilingual environment at all the moments of their school days, what will make them learning quicklier and naturally both languages.
All our levels have daily phonics lessons based on a UK method: Letterland with different kinds of listening, speaking and writing exercises. We reinforce our language lessons with US methods: Rainbow and Wonders for our theme lessons.
Every month all activities about vocabulary, logic, math, crafts, writing skills. Etc are based on a specific theme. These themes have the objectives to make the children to discover and understand the world around them. These activities can be of different kinds, in team or individual, creative or writing, etc, but always with the main objective to stimulate and develop all the skills and potential of every child in an attractive and funny way.
Developing the gross motor skills of young children is also very important for us, so twice a day the teachers organize physical activities according to each age group as much as possible on our big playground. Moreover, once a week we invite also professional sport coaches to come and we change according to the season what is also the opportunity to discover another sport. This year, we had first Kung Fu, then yoga during the winter and in March the children just started soccer.
From last year we introduced from Prek class French lessons twice a week. It is scientifically proved that at their young age the brain is in its most flexible stage and the children learn fast and easier. Learning foreign languages have many benefits: that improves problem solving skills and creativity, the children will connect easier with other cultures which makes them more open-minded. The objective of our lessons is to learn some easy vocabulary of daily life, understand easy questions and be able to make simple sentences on the basis of oral expression.
Last year also, we introduced STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities in our curriculum once a week, as we consider it is very important to stimulate the sense of observation and thinking through experiments.
